Take a ride on the "Highway to Ale"

I've started a new beer blog. Highway to Ale. Yeah, I know. Kinda weird title. But I still like it, so that's what it's gonna be. And there are many beer blogs out there already. That's alright. Highway to Ale shall soon drink all of these other beer blogs under their computer desks. Maybe. Wait, I'm not even sure what that means. Does that mean that I win?
Basically, I wanted to transfer all the beer related stuff from this blog and put it all in one new place. So far, on the right sidebar you'll find some cool links, my rating guide, photos, and music. We'll see what else I can come up with. Right now, it's time to kick things off with a brand new Weird Beer Thursday.

I am still very much a White person

Despite my efforts to actually not be so White, it looks as though after all these years I currently still exist as a very White person, according to the newer and already super popular blog Stuff White People Like.
Here on our blog alone, we have specifically mentioned about 21 of the topics that have been featured on Stuff White People Like since their first post in January.
They are (from the Full List of Stuff White People Like): #7 Diversity, #10 Wes Anderson Movies, #13 Tea, #19 Traveling, #23 Microbreweries, #33 Marijuana, #34 Architecture, #35 The Daily Show/Colbert Report, #36 Breakfast Places, #40 Apple Products, #41 Indie Music, #49 Vintage, #50 Irony, #53 Dogs, #61 Bicycles, #63 Expensive Sandwiches, #64 Recycling, #75 Threatening to Move to Canada, #81 Graduate School, #84 T-Shirts, and #85 "The Wire".

Creating a Climatic Event

Got enough snow, yet? Well, we're getting more tonight.
But if you don't live in Chicago, where we've had a good amount of snow lately, then just visit this kid's backyard.
His Christmas present: A 30-gallon air compressor and a pressure washer.
Real-world Calvin (Forest Pearson) Builds Snow Machine, Creates Backyard Mountain Overnight.
Gotta watch the video.
The male news anchor thinks the kid is adorable.
I think he looks like a smarter, nicer version of the kid from Problem Child. (And Problem Child 2)
And no matter how much you emphasize it as "science", I think ultimately he may be up to the same old shenanigans.

Christmas-y Holiday-ish Winter-ful Wonderland

Christmas-y Holiday-ish Winter-ful links for all! No-el from Jo-el!

Last year we had the radically extreme Mountain Dew tree.
This year, take a look at the cool and swinging Grolsch Christmas Tree.
I couldn't track down the people (official site) that actually made this Christmas tree out of Grolsch swingtop bottles, and I know that it is was actually posted online many years ago, but that blog link I gave you has a good and easily accessible picture.
And if that one's not big enough for 'ya, check out this huge Grolsch Christmas tree from something in Montreal.
Click here for a YouTube video of a creative 30-second TV commercial of Grolsch swingtop bottle swing dancing to the tune of "It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)" by Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington.

I am obviously not doing a Christmas / Winter Holiday themed Music Mix this year.
This year, I can recommend this joyous and jolly post titled "Vintage Christmas Wax: Revisited" from the blog Paul's Ramblings. He explains what it's all about in detail in the post. Briefly, he has posted audio clips of about 42 vintage wax recordings from the early 1900's through the late 1930's. Yes, they are old. They are also way more pleasant to listen to than modern Christmas music-crap. If you listen to just one, try this one. I'll link it directly for you: Eddie Cantor's "The Only Thing I Want for Christmas (Is Just to Keep the Things That I've Got)."
It's truly relaxing.

This next link is huge. And I don't know how long all the links on this site will be functional.
"Watch 101 Classic Christmas Videos Online" from fanpop.com.
I already watched a bunch of them from some of the different categories ("How the Grinch Stole Christmas", "Justice League: Comfort & Joy Christmas Special", "The Office: Christmas Party", "Three Company's: Christmas", "Wham! Last Christmas music video", "Ali G Christmas Message", and "Naked Chef: Christmas Comes Early".)
Most of the videos play very well. Since a lot of them are actual longer episodes, they may load slowly, but usually you can still watch at the same time. But for many of them, you may have to pause the video until it loads sufficiently to watch.

And lastly, what may be the best mascot for anything ever, here's Quatchi, one of the official mascots of the 2010 Winter Olympics Winter Games in Vancouver. Drag your mouse over Quatchi to hear him introduce himself. Best voice ever.

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Done Brung Me The Head Of Anthony!

Ha, crazy funny photo. But really weird and creepy, too. What the heck were we doing? That's me and Geoff. Yeah, nice pose. Looks like we were holding Anthony hostage and asking for some kind of ransom. I think I remember that I brought over some good ales that night, so at least Anthony didn't have to drink any cheap beer. Good to hear from you Anthony.
